Marquette, MI – August 25, 2018 – The good weather rolled in as Day Two of HarborFest 2018 kicked off bright and early Saturday morning with the South Shore Fishing Association’s Marquette Bay Classic Fall Tournament. Teams set out for a fishing competition at 6am, fishing until 2pm on Lake Superior. Around 11am the annual Car and Motorcycle Show began with demos for the kids at the U.P. Luge Club station.
In the afternoon a return performance by Chicago band Bumpus blew the crowd away despite the return of bad weather. The group attracted a large crowd of people, all grooving to the music and singing along as the rain came down! Also returning for a second year were Gerry and Allison Brown as the first band of the day. The couple played acoustic country songs with some classic rock and modern pop thrown in.
Mattson Lower Harbor buzzed with excitement as kids ran around in the Double Trouble DJs Kid Zone. The entertainment company placed inflatables of all shapes and sizes in the park, including an inflatable obstacle course, a pirate ship, and a giant slide. Under the big tent, Double Trouble set up corn hole boards so attendees could play free games with friends or family! Domestic and craft beer were available at the beer tent to pair perfectly with snacks such as freshly made pretzels from DaH Pretzel Guys and the delicious Mexican Street Corn from Outlanders.
During the evening, the crowd enjoyed classic rock band Tuesday Jones, Ishpeming band The Pit Crew, rock/pop/country band Iron Daisy. Food, games, community all made this a great day for HarborFest 2018, but the top-notch music made it one of the best community events in recent memory!
Taking the stage around 9pm, all the way from Detroit, Michigan was the Bob Seger Tribute Band, Live Bullet Detroit. The rock cover band played song after song from one of America’s most iconic singer-songwriters, and the crowd loved it! More than a thousand people attended Saturday just for the concert at Mattson Lower Harbor just to experience Live Bullet Detroit’s first appearance at HarborFest. The rock band had everyone on their feet “getting funky” right through to the last song of the night at 11pm.
