We had a number of individuals who were recognized for their contributions.

Marquette, MI  –  April 25, 2018  –  For 100 years the Rotary has been working to help eradicate polio. The mission is a core value of the group; so much so that part of the dues from each Rotarian goes toward polio research and supporting those who battle the disease.

We had a number of individuals who were recognized for their contributions.
We had a number of individuals who were recognized for their contributions.

The Rotary as six primary focuses:

  • Promoting peace
  • Fighting disease
  • Water sanitation projects in India and other countries
  • Maternal and Child Health in South & West Africa and beyond
  • Basic Education and Literacy
  • Economic and Community development including contributions to local clubs and societies

As of 2017, the Marquette West Rotary has raised $1.7 billion to help eradicate polio. Lucy Groce attended this week’s luncheon to encourage members to join The Paul Harris Society. To qualify as a Paul Harris Society member, you most donate $1,000 or more. Thanks to 501 (c)(3) status, donations to the foundation is tax deductible, which means you’re bringing money right back into the community.

Reach Paul Harris status with an up front donation, or donate by the month throughout the year! 7% of Rotarians are donated enough to reach Paul Harris Society status. This 7% represents 45% of the money that goes into the fund!

During today’s meeting we had several members who received a certificate to thank them for their participation and support.
